It is possible for a discount code to be activated without it being redeemed by the customer. Normally, the customer is advised of the option to enter a discount code as they move through the order process.
But what if you want to specify that a customer should receive a discount automatically?
In this case, you can edit the path of the URL such that the discount is automatically deducted from the customer's shopping cart.
This option is useful if you want to launch an event during which all customers are to receive a discount. You can then advertise with the special URL and ensure that the desired discount code is activated for all customers who purchase via this link.
Customers receive the option to enter a discount code during every order process. This function is not optional, but is rather set by default.
1. Edit the shop URL
If you load an offer in your shop and go through the order process, an individual URL for the offer will be automatically generated. This URL might look something like this:
https://www.regiondo.com/example-34754349194
https://www.regiondo.com/example-34754349194
If you want to distribute a discount to your customers as part of a promotional campaign, you can enable this discount code by adapting the URL.
To anchor the code in the URL, you must add the following to the end of the URL path:
?discount=CODENAME
https://www.regiondo.com/example-34754349194?discount=CODENAME
To anchor the code in the URL, you must add the following to the end of the URL path:
?discount=CODENAME
https://www.regiondo.com/example-34754349194?discount=CODENAME
2. The discount will be applied to the shopping basket
You will have defined the type and amount of the discount during the process of discount creation. Note that the URL can only activate an existing, valid code.
Important:
Customers can share discount codes with others. When using this option, make sure to set a limit on the number of redemptions.
