A gift voucher is a voucher for one specific offer. Instead of booking a fixed date and time, a customer buys a voucher for that offer in your ticket shop or at your POS, and redeems it for an appointment later.
It was previously called a product voucher, and it is also referred to as a gift certificate in some parts of the Dashboard and in the Regiondo Help Center. In the offer settings it appears as the Gift option, and in your ticket shop customers see it as the Buy as a gift tab.
Gift vouchers are activated at offer level, so you decide individually which of your offers can be bought as a gift and which cannot.
1. How do I activate gift vouchers for an offer?
Activate the Gift option switcher in Step 7 of the offer settings. As Gift vouchers are activated per offer, you have to repeat this for every offer you want to sell as a gift.
- Go to Manage offers > My offers.
- Choose the offer you want to sell as a gift voucher.
- Open step 7. Preview
- Switch Gift option to the right.
- Click Submit product.
Customers can now buy a gift voucher for this offer in your ticket shop.
1.1. How do I make the gift option the first thing customers see?
Switch on Highlight gift option tab in Step 7 of the offer settings. The Gift option switcher must be active first, because Highlight gift option tab only appears once it is.
- Go to Manage offers > My offers.
- Choose your offer and open step 7. Preview
- Make sure Gift option is switched on.
- Switch Highlight gift option tab to the right.
- Click Submit product.
Customers now see Buy as a gift first when they open this offer in your ticket shop, instead of the date selection.
You can also switch on Always show gift option.
1.2. How do I link directly to the gift voucher tab of an offer?
Add /type/gift to the end of your booking widget URL. This opens the offer with Buy as a gift already selected, which is useful for gift campaigns, newsletters, and seasonal landing pages.
-
Link that opens the gift voucher tab:
https://[your-shop].regiondo.de/bookingwidget/vendor/[vendor-id]/id/[offer-id]/type/gift -
Link that opens the standard ticket tab:
https://[your-shop].regiondo.de/bookingwidget/vendor/[vendor-id]/id/[offer-id]
Replace [your-shop], [vendor-id], and [offer-id] with the values from your own booking widget URL. The Gift option switcher must be active for that offer, otherwise the gift voucher tab does not exist.
2. How do I customize my gift voucher PDF?
Use the PDF editor to brand and personalize the gift voucher your customers receive. Go to Shop configuration > PDF editor in your Dashboard.
For step-by-step instructions on editing the layout, text, and images, see How can I make individual modifications using the PDF editor?
3. How is a gift voucher redeemed?
There are two ways to redeem a gift voucher: the customer redeems it online themselves, or you redeem it for them from your dashboard.
3.1. The customer redeems the gift voucher online
The customer goes to https://www.regiondo.com/voucher and enters their voucher code to choose a date and time. The redemption instructions and this link are printed on the gift voucher PDF, so no action is needed from you.
3.2. You redeem the gift voucher for the customer
Go to Bookings > Redeem gift certificate in your dashboard and enter the customer's voucher code. Use this when a customer contacts you by phone or email instead of redeeming online, or when you are booking the appointment on their behalf.
For the full procedure, see How to redeem a gift certificate for my customer?
4. How do I decline a gift voucher request?
Decline the booking in your dashboard. Do this when a customer wants to redeem a gift voucher for an offer you no longer run.
4.1. Decline the gift voucher request
Open the gift voucher request in your dashboard and choose the decline option. You can add a message to the customer explaining why.
4.2. Settle the declined request with a value voucher
Any gift voucher request you decline can be settled with a value voucher, so the customer can book a different offer of yours instead. Select the value voucher option when declining. The customer is notified of the cancellation and can then redeem the value voucher for another one of your offers.
4.3. Refund the customer instead
If the customer wants their money back rather than a voucher, follow How to cancel a booking.
